INTER-SCHOOLS FILM MAKING COMPETITION
Dear Head of School, or Media Spokesperson,
Worcester Film Makers are inviting schools within the Worcester area to participate in our Inter- Schools Film Competition. This is the second year we are running the competition which was won last year by Regency High School and Sports College.
We believe disciplines within film making and the multi tasks required gives young people a good understanding of organization, planning and work to achieve an end product. As well as being fun, film making inspires the participants to research a topic, to practice good communication with others at all levels, and to plan for an agreed outcome. We understand that OFSTED have looked favourably on schools which have included filmmaking projects.
Worcester Film Makers web site displays the rules and requirements for the competition, which was supported by prizes last year from Mazak and Top Barn.
If your school plans to enter our competition, please will you register your interest to the Competitions Secretary in one of the following ways, stating the following information:

The WORCESTER FILM MAKERS Inter-schools Competition for Schools in the Worcester Area.
Rules & Regulations:
The Film Competition is an annual film
and video competition open to schools film makers from the Worcester area. It is
run by Worcester Film Makers to promote young pupil/students in the art of film
making.
EACH ENTRY MUST INCLUDE:
1.) Entry form - filled out
clearly and completely, with an original signature. Entry forms can be requested
that one be mailed to you.
2.) Film or video entry* must be on Blu-ray disc, DVD, MiniDV or USB (mpeg2
format) stick, regardless of original shooting format. Total running time must
not be over 8 minutes in length, including front and back credits. The
Film may be on any subject but must have been completed within the last 2 years.
* Entries MUST be PAL
format only.
3.) Entry Fee £0.00 (this year).
4.) Categories ages:
(1) 5 to 10,
(2) 10 to 13,
(3) 13 to 18.

EARLIER!
Entrants may submit multiple entries in as many categories as you wish, or
submit the same short film in multiple categories. Each entry requires a
separate DVD or VHS tape, entry form and entrance fee.
Films that are submitted must be the entrant’s original work and shall
not infringe on any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties.
Contestants agree that they have obtained all required permissions regarding music, sound and/or images presented in your film. By entering the competition, the entrant agrees that Worcester Filmmakers Competition will not be held liable for any copyright infringements perpetrated by you or your film.
The Worcester Filmmakers Competition reserves the right to not screen any film(s) for any reason it deems valid. Entrants will be required to sign an affidavit confirming that their film is original and he/she holds all rights. Failure to sign and return the entry form or provision of false information may result in disqualification. Affidavits are subject to verification by the Worcester Filmmakers Competition and its members.
Entrants will retain all ownership rights to their films submitted.
Entry materials (DVD's,
tapes, etc.) submitted can be returned to the entrant only if SAE is provided.
The Worcester Filmmakers Competition is not responsible for late, lost, damaged,
misdirected, postage due, stolen, or misappropriated entries.
Winners are selected by a judging panel of Worcester Filmmakers Members who may
be substituted at the discretion of the competition organizers. All entries are
judged equally based on these 6 areas: Content Originality (Quality of
storyline, script, narration or commentary), Production (Camera work, lighting,
and shot composition), Post-Production (Editing, transitions, pacing,
continuity, and flow), Image (Focus, colour, and lighting), Sound Quality
(Clarity, consistency of audio levels, and lack of noise) and
Entertainment/interest value.
Winners will be informed and invited to a club evening at Perdiswell Youth
Leisure Centre in Droitwich Road on a Tuesday evening, (See programme).
Under 18 years of age at time of award must be accompanied by parent or legal
guardian. Finalists and winners will be notified by mail and/or email and will
also be listed on the Worcester Filmmakers website at
www.worcesterfilmmakers.co.uk. The Worcester Filmmakers Competition will use
its best efforts to announce the winners at the designated time, but will not be
held liable for any unforeseen delays.
Prizes:
All prizes and trophies will be awarded to the School’s name as it appears on
the entry form. The Winner's trophy is the property of Worcester Film Makers and
must be returned to them when requested or no longer than 11 months after the
prize giving.
By entering the Worcester Film Makers Competition, contestants and/or their parents or legal guardian (if such entrant is by a minor) agree to accept and be bound by the decisions of the competition and its judges which are final and binding in all matters. Entrant agrees to be bound by all terms of these official competition rules and regulations as established herein. If a School submits a sole entrant of a pupil under 18 years old, the signature of a parent or guardian is required. The Worcester Filmmakers Competition reserves the right to extend the competition deadline for any unforeseen reasons if needed. Entry constitutes permission to use winner's name, in future advertising and publicity purposes to promote this event for young Film Makers without additional compensation.
